Jesus Storybook Bible

My walking buddy and friend, Rebecca, told me about this book, The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name. And, I thought it was blog-worthy - for any of our blog readers. The author's intended audience is children, but it is a fascinating book, one that has even been a suggested read to pastors because of the way the book is written. It causes the reader to look at all the characters and events in Scripture in light of their place in redemptive history. It's a book telling the stories of the bible, but strewn in to each story is the underlying theme that points each story to Jesus. You can read a sample from this book of the story of The Fall by clicking on this link.
Sally Lloyd-Jones received The Moonbeam Award Gold Medal Winner in the religion category for this book. Zondervan's description of the book quotes, "At the center for the Story is a baby, the child upon whome everything will depend. Every story whispers His name. From Noah to Moses to the great King Dave - every story points to Him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle - the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the Story unfolds, children will pick up on the clues and and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation - at the cent of their Story too."
The book can be ordered on www.amazon.com as well as several other websites and in Christian Stores. I hope you'll decide to add it to your book collection.

This is our favourite family book. We read our girls a story from this Book every night. When we are done, we start from the beginning again.

I personally love the way the Story is written not only because of the woven story of God's saving grace but also because it provides a great script for reading outloud. This along with the pictures reinforce the learning of our 3 yr. old and 1 yr. old.

The greatest gifts we can give our children is the knowledge of who God is and prayer.

Kim, This is an awesome book- on John Mark's wish list for Christmas. I have browsed through it many times in bookstores and online. It has such a Christ-centered theology that is so hard to find in children's books. I am so glad you have this for your baby boy!

Hey Kim - thanks for recommending the book. I already ordered my copy!

You asked about my camera...I have a Canon Rebel XTi. It's basically a bottom of the line professional camera. (translated: it fit in the budget!) I really like it and it works well with the Mac. It is a camera my photography instructor recommended, and I am very pleased with it. We are processing ALL the photos in Photoshop and it is definitely a great tool. It fixes any mistake!

Hope that helps!

Can't wait for Baby Boy Audi!
